Update 12

Let me start by congratulating the Sharks on their victory last Saturday.
And moving right along, here are the highlights from the respondees list:
I think that we have located our most ‘remote’ 89er to date (apart from those in Cape Town hey): Grant Cairns who is living and working in a town called Asia Del Mar – PERU made contact with us earlier this week. (Good luck with the birth of your 1st child later this month)
I would also like to thank Janine Slee (nee Siederer) in
And then Michael Houghton sent me the photo above with the caption “It’s going to be very quiet in

We’ve managed to make contact with 87 out of 247 1989 matrics (35%). Still quite a few to go, but we are getting there. Once again, please go through the list of all matrics and get hold of those that have not yet made contact.
We are getting around 30 respondees per month, and at this rate, it will take another 5 months to get everyone to respond. I would like to speed up the process, because we must have a set date for the reunion well before March next year.
If you are a first time visitor to the site, please complete the contact list form, and please check that all 89ers you still have contact with have responded.
Have a good week, and keep checking in for updates.
Regards
Andre
Update 13
16 November 2008
Welcome back everyone.
(First time visitors, please complete the contact list.)
I am really happy to report that our respondees list keeps ticking over, so thanks to all the new 89ERS who have responded to the site. As you can see, we are up to 95 which is a substantial number in itself. However, we are not yet at the 50% mark which will be 123 respondees.
If you recognise anyone on the Full Matric List that has not yet responded, please get hold of them or let me have their contact details.
Regarding the reunion, I have been receiving a few comments / recommendations to what we should plan. One comment made was regarding the 1988 martics who held a dinner on the Friday night – only for pupils, and on the Saturday, they had a family day which took the form of a pick nick on the school grounds.
Most of the respondees to this site have voted for a spit braai or a regular braai which is definitely doable.
Nothing final has been decided yet, but please feel free to drop me a mail with comments and / or suggestions.
Over the passed few months, I have had requests to put various people in touch with each other – these are 89Ers that have not seen each other since school – 20 years or more!
At least 25 requests have come through, and it would be great to know if you guys have managed to meet each other. If you do get together, please send me a photograph to have posted on the site.
Apart from that, I will be sending out an email to all those who have not yet completed the snap-shot information. I have had only positive comments regarding this.
Keep in touch, and we will chat soon.
