One of the memories that comes back to me time and again is when I hear the song by Louis Armstrong - Wonderful World.
Everytime I hear it, I get a tear in my eye becasue it takes me back to one of the clan evenings when you (Andre) and Hylton Swemmer sang the same song. For me, it is one of those 'never to be forgotton' memories. You both were dressed like old men with walking sticks and hats - it was brilliant - what a great memory.

I remember one time - in the prefect's room, Paul Mulder, Toby Litton and I were bunking class (I think it was maths), and we were buggering around. Toby was sitting on a couch to our right when Paul and I started 'passing / throwing' one of those plastic hall chairs at each other (for some reason???). Anyway, one of us decided to try to bounce the chair (we where standing about 3 meters apart). On my first bounce, the chair hit the ground and made a 90 degree jump to the right - exactly on line with Toby's head. As these things usually turn out, the bottom part of the metal leg of the chair hit Toby just above his left eye. Even our shouts of 'CHIPS!' did not give him enough time to get out of the way. With blood streaming down his face, we (as responsible prefects) rushed him to the secretary's office. Of course, I was asked by all concerned what caused this terrible accident, and not wanting to be 'bust' for bunking, I think the story was something about Toby walking into a door?!!?
I still feel bad about this after all these years, and although I have seen Toby a few times since then, I have never said sorry.
So, Toby - if you read this, please fill in the contact list form as soon as possible.

This is not a funny anecdote, but it is an important memory for me and possibly some of the others who were there at the time. I always remember our class teacher, Mrs Caveney, with fondness. She seldom got cross, but I do recall her once getting quite annoyed because a number of us had not completed some geography homework. The class responded with the usual general grumbling and cheekiness about too much work at school. Andre Roberts, as was his tendency, got a touch louder than the rest of us and started a bit of direct back-chatting, culminating with the complaint that we would probably be expected to do homework and attend classes even if we were sick and dying! I will never forget Mrs Caveney's response. It was, as far as I remember, the only time she ever lost her temper and shouted at us, just one sentence: "I'm dying and I come to school!". The class was silent and the issue of incomplete homework seldom had to be raised in her classroom again. Those words have influenced the way I approach situations and some of the choices I make, even today.
That Andre Roberts was a cheeky little sh%^*&^%t - I hope he has changed after all this time! - Ed

Ok, here is another one. I think it was in standard four or five, when we had our annual soccer tour to Durban.
While we were in Durban, the Pretoria Girls School Netball teams also had a tour to Durban, and as it turned out, they were staying in a hotel not far from ours. I think that the only guy that 'hooked up' with one of them, was Kerion Barnes.
Anyway, after the tour, we were driving back to Pretoria in the yellow Lynnwood Ridge bus one night (late), chatting about the tour. Someone shouted "Hey Kerion, there's your girlfriend naked in the bushes!"
Everyone in the bus looked to the left (including the driver), and as these things usually happen, the road made a turn to the right...
The next thing, we were bouncing all over the inside of the bus as we headed straight into the Natal Midlands vegetation. All I remember from this is the driver shouting "HOLD ON!"
The next thing I heard was "MALCOLM'S OUT, MALCOLM'S OUT!"
Thankfully, the bus came to a standstill without rolling, and as we got out, we realized that Malcolm Lamprecht had indeed fallen out the bus (he had been sitting in the front passenger seat).
We all desperately started looking for him, and we found him about 50 meters behind the bus with 'minimal injuries' thankfully.
The only thing he said to us was "has anyone seen my flip flop?"

This is a pre High School story...
Robin Haywood and I were in nursery school together and we were best friends back then.
She came over to visit one day and her and I made our way to the fruit trees in our back yard. We proceeded to throw the frot fruit over the fence into the neighbors pool just cause we could and it was fun.
Well he came over told my dad and both Robin and I got a hiding and then had to go over and dive the fruit out. Of course this was the especially fun part and eventually the neighbor sent us back again and said he'd finish the rest.
and the memories unfold...
